These men and women help lead prominent institutions and are actively involved in American health care beyond the walls of their hospitals, said Becker’s Hospital Review editorial team. The team used several resources to develop the list, including nominations and input from industry experts.

Bixler has led the Rutherford Regional health system, which includes 143-bed Rutherford Regional Medical Center, since October 2007. His career in the health care industry spans over 30 years in various health care settings, including for-profit, non-profit and academic facilities.

He has experience in management of clinical and financial services in a variety of hospitals with a background in profit, non-profit and academic facilities. He earned his Masters of Health Sciences from Mississippi College in Clinton, Mississippi and a Bachelors of Science in Marketing from Southeastern Massachusetts University in North Dartmouth, Ma.

Becker’s Hospital Review is a print and online publication offering up-to-date business and legal news and analysis primarily to acute-care hospital CEOs and CFOs. It is published in print on a bi-monthly basis with an additional three special issues, and the website is updated on a daily basis. The publication is known for providing news and business advice on topics such as hospital-physician relationships, information technology, hospital finance, and hospital operations, patient safety, hospital governance, hospital leader compensation, materials management and supply chain, and legal issues.

Rutherford Regional Health System was also recently recognized for featuring one of America’s Top 20 Community Hospitals by Becker’s Hospital Review. It was one of only three hospitals from North Carolina to make the list and is the only facility named from western North Carolina.

It also has been named a four-time Top 100 organization by Thomson Reuters. Rutherford Regional Health System offers inpatient, outpatient and 24-hour emergency care, along with outpatient surgery services, family and pediatrics care, surgical and orthopedics care, psychiatric care, home care, rehabilitation services and fully modern imaging capabilities.
