Call Centers

Rutherford County is well suited to meet the demands of today's Call Centers.  With strong, available sites Rutherford County can have call centers up and running in 60-90 days.  Fiber Optics is abundant in Rutherford County and utilities are in place to meet any upfit requirements.

All buildings listed have lease options and most qualify for the NC Rural Center Reuse and Restoration Grants.  These grants are available for buildings that are for lease or for sale.

Labor availability is also very strong with a large, diverse workforce.  The labor shed for Rutherford County has a civilian labor force of approximately 208,100 (Pathfinders Report.pdf).

Available Call Center Space:

• Food Lion Rutherfordton - 30,280 sq ft
• Food Lion Forest City - 26,752 sq ft
• Harris Teeter - 32,960 sq ft
• 650 West Corporate Building - 8,000 sq ft (bottom floor only)
• Steve & Barry's - 63,000 sq ft (can be subdivided)

    These Buildings May Qualify for the NC Rural Center Building Reuse and Restoration Grant 

Name of Program: Pre Development Grant
• Purpose - For the planning activities necessary to reuse a vacant building. May include feasibility, architectural and market studies. Building must be vacant for at least three months.
• Amount - Maximum award of $25,000 (A match of at least $5,000 is required. The unit of local government must provide at least $1,000 in cash or in-kind services and $4,000 from public or private sources).  Grant is awarded to Rutherford County as the pass through agent.
• Approval - Quarterly application cycles with award date within two months of submittal.

Name of Program:  Redevelopment Grant
• Purpose - To improve vacant buildings for redevelopment including system and structural alterations. Building must be vacant for at least three months.
• Amount - Maximum award of $480,000 ($12,000 per job created. Must be matched by at least an equal amount of private or public funds. The unit of local government must provide a cash or in-kind match equal to 3% the grant request).  Grant is awarded to Rutherford County as the pass through agent.
• Approval - Quarterly application cycles with award date within two months of submittal.
